Wade Websites - FAQs

I run a small/medium size business and want an online presence to promote my business in a professional manner to new customers and to provide a more professional image to existing customers. What do I need to achieve this?

You need to start with a professionally developed website, a domain name, and hosting facilities for your website. You also need the website to be uploaded onto your hosting facilities. Click here for more information - Website Development Process.

How long will it take for my website to be designed?

The timescale of a website design project is often dictated by the client. If you have a deadline in mind we will endeavor to meet it for you. The most common delay in the creation and completion of a new website is waiting for content (text/images) to be sent to us by the client. Once the content is provided to us and the design selections have been made, we can usually have your website up and running within a few days. Actual time is based on the size, scope and nature of your website. It can fluctuate, especially if there are lots of changes during the design phase. We will work with you to ensure that all of the elements and aspects are handled in the proper order to produce an affordable website in a realistic time frame.

Why should I use your website design services and not another company, and do you have a proven track record?

We provide a one to one personal service and are friendly and accommodating. We are always available by phone or email to answer your questions. Our website design prices are very competitive. Our clients will tell you what makes us stand out from others - integrity, dependability, quality, speed and price! See for yourself, view our Websites Developed gallery and read what our customers have to say about their new website.

Will we need to have a meeting in connection with the website design?

In the majority of cases a meeting isn't necessary and most of our websites are generally completed with contact via email and telephone only. We place suggested website designs onto the Internet in a private place where your company can view the content. We then consult with you regularly to discuss the web designs in order that the website design and functionality is exactly as you wish.

How much will a website cost me?

The cost of a website varies depending on the site and complexity. A small website with just a few static pages would cost differently than a website that has a shopping cart with a large number of pages. Our prices are very competitive compared to the rest of the industry. If you give us a call we will be pleased to discuss your website design requirements and give you a fixed quotation.

I hear that there are hidden costs associated with web design services. Is this true?

No. We discuss with you your website requirements and then price accordingly. Once you have placed an order for your website design with us, that price is strictly adhered to. (Unless you decide to make additions/changes later.)

How many pages is the average site?

The average site ranges between 6 - 20 pages, but can vary depending on the nature of the business and/or the purpose of the site. Most people will need web pages like Home, About Us, Services, Rates, Gallery, Testimonials, Contact Us, etc.

In what format should I supply text and images for my new website?

It is helpful to us if you are able to provide text and images in electronic form. For example, the files output by a digital camera or from other sources should be in ".jpg" or ".gif" format. The text can be sent directly in the body of an email or as an MS Word attachment. If this is not possible, we can work with you further to get your information ready for use on the website.

Can I see the design while my website is under development?

Yes! Once the design for the main page has been completed it will be uploaded to our server for your approval. After approval the rest of website will be developed.

Will my website design be "Search Engine" friendly?

All our websites are created with search engines in mind. It is a good idea for your website to be re-evaluated as over a period of time the search engines do alter their rules and algorithms and you will want to be certain that your website is kept up to date and complies with new rules etc.

How do I update my website?

There are many different methods which can be used to update websites. If you have a small website consisting of just a few pages and will only need to make changes very infrequently, then usually it is more cost effective simply to ask us to carry out these changes for you. Other methods which are frequently chosen are largely dependant upon how much data or information and pictures you have and how you store this information at present.

On line content management systems (CMS) where you can either update individual products/pages/services or particular sections of your website can cost several hundred or thousands of dollars to develop. These CMS modules are typically not cost effective for small websites with a few pages. If you are somewhat technically oriented, we can direct you to a free open-source software package that you can download from the internet and this can be used to make simple changes to web pages.

Will everyone see my website the same?

Your website visitors will see some things differently depending on their browser, screen resolution setting, their monitor and their individual computer settings and toolbars. We design sites with that in mind and preview them in several browser types and resolution settings before publishing. Obviously as technology alters then eventually all websites may need re-evaluation.

Can I get e-mail with my website?

Yes you can have email and you may wish to set-up several email addresses e.g. sales@your-domain.com, info@your-domain.com, john.smith@your-domain.com. Does your email address look professional? It is amazing to find that in this day and age, some companies have still not realized how important their email communications are. Your email address may actually be more important to your image than your logo, letterhead or business cards combined!

If you have multiple email accounts (gmail, yahoo, yourdomain.com, etc.), then you probably will want to use Gmail or email clients like Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc. where you can go to one place to read all of your email.

Can I have a shopping cart on my website?

Yes you can. If you have 5-10 items to sell then I typically suggest just using Paypal to get started with your shopping cart. It is quick, easy and free to set up. Paypal can take credit cards if you set up a free Premier account. To take credit cards directly you are talking hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars to develop a website with a full blown shopping cart. With Paypal there are no contracts, application fees, setup fees, monthly charges, cancellation fees, or gateway fees. Funds are deposited into your Paypal account and easily transferred into your business bank account at no additional charge.
* No need to purchase an SSL certificate
* No merchant account required
* No additional hosting charges
* Fees only apply when you make a sale
* Fees are 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction or lower. Rates are competitive when compared to IP Payment Gateway charges.
* Paypal accepts all credit cards, bank checks, debit cards and every kind of online payments.

I already have a website and I need it updated, can you help me?

Yes, we would be happy to look at your existing website and give you a quote for updating it. No project is too small for us. We just need a few basic things to configure our solution to start maintaining you website. We need the FTP login and the files that your designer used to create your website. We can redesign, retaining your company corporate style or we can redesign to give you a completely new image. Is your website up to date - let us provide you a Free of Charge Website Evaluation.

Who owns the website once the website design is completed?

The website belongs to you.

I don't think a website will do anything for me, am I right?

No, many people overlook the various products, services, or business processes they can include on a website. Any communication or interactions that happen within your business can be made easier and more efficient by the web. Your business will save money and time while appealing to a much greater audience, the world.
